Cabana Lavanda was created as a meeting place submerged in perfect harmony with it’snatural environment, combining simplicity with a refined discreet luxury, The idillic cottage faces the sea, located in the superb prime area of Lagoa Formosa, at a 5 minute walk from Carvalhal beach, 10 minutes from Pego Beach, very close to commerce and the popular beach restaurants and right at the foot rice fields.
The architectural project pays tribute to the traditional fishermen’s huts, respecting their traditional colors, materials such as exposed wood and dethatched roofs, while combining with two fundamental pillars: simplicity and elegance. The 2000 sq.m state consists of 3 cabins integrated in perfect harmony with the nature and natural topography. The main cabin has a gross area of 350 sq.m, divided into two floors mezzanine style and sleeps 10 to 12 guests. The second cabin offers support to the pool, having a shower and bathroom, as well as an independent cleaning area.
The garden has been beautifully and meticulously designed to preserve the native species, with over 10 types of lavender, another 50 local species in and a 1400 year-old olive tree. In the gardens, one can find many different social lounge areas in the midst of the vegetation. 2 large semi-covered terraces with a wooden pergola, 2 porches, 2 outdoor dining areas, along with a few small gathering lounges (including an outdoor fireplace) spread throughout the stunning garden.
The 18m infinity pool has been purposely designed with a special boomerang shape to show respect to the original pine forest, which surround the property, offering extra privacy and extraordinary serene views. The pool also reflects shades of the Atlantic ocean, with a special coating, that cause a color change, dependent on the intensity of the light. The Atlantic atmosphere is then transferred to the interior of the house.
Half of the construction of this energy efficient cottage has large glass windows scaled to the volume size of the cabin and uses the natural and raw materials found in the region. The perfect integration with the natural environment, while keeping the “warm homey feeling” in syntony to the region’s slow life imperative, has been the major goal while designing this sublime and sustainable state.

Large floor-to-ceiling windows which maximize the natural integration and expose the impressive views. On the ground floor there is a 100 sq.m living room, containing a fire place and a dining area sitting 10 people and a large and fully equipped kitchen, which is open to the living room. The large living room is connected to the main porch.
On the ground floor there are 3 beautiful en-suit bedrooms, all of which have their own outdoor private area and accessible through the indoors of the house and the exterior.
On the top floor there is an independent space with a 80 sq.m living room, 4 beds (2 extra can be placed in some special cases, when requested with time), a bathroom and a private terrace facing the rice fields.
